A Microenterprise Development Organization
 

Who We Are The Business Resource Center (BRC), an affiliate of the Small Business Development Center at Del Mar College, provides education and training for micro-entrepreneurs. A microenterprise is defined as any business with less than five employees and start up costs of less than $10,000.

Mission To assist individuals and small businesses in the Texas Coastal Bend, increase income, create wealth and foster job creation utilizing microenterprise strategies.

Vision Within five years become the recognized provider of micro-entrepreneurial business development services to individuals and small businesses in the Texas Coastal Bend.

  • 89%, (2.1 million), of Texas’ 2.4 million businesses, are classified as a microbusiness.
  • “1-in-3”— Nationally, if one in three microbusiness hired one additional full time person, the U.S. economy could achieve full employment.
  • Nationally 80% of small businesses that receive training and technical assistance from a microenterprise development organization are still in business after five years. This compares to an overall five year survival rate of less than 50% for those businesses who do not seek assistance
