Almost all institutions of higher education are voluntary members of regional accrediting associations that continually monitor all aspects of their member institutions for quality and soundness.

Del Mar College has been an accredited member of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1946.  Membership indicates the College’s compliance with the quality standards established by SACS for the 800 degree-granting higher education institutions that the Association monitors.

Every ten years all members of SACS reaffirm their accreditation with the Commission on Colleges by a rigorous self-assessment process that includes the submission of a comprehensive compliance certification document, the development of a Quality Enhancement Plan, an off-site peer review, and an on-site peer visit.

This website will be continually updated to keep the Del Mar College community and the public informed about the College’s preparations for reaffirmation of its accreditation.

If you have questions about the accreditation process at Del Mar College, please contact the College’s SACS liaison, Provostand Vice President of Instruction Dr. Fernando Figueroa, at 698-1205 or at
