The philosophy of the Department of Nursing Education reflects the mission and purpose of Del Mar College. The faculty believes nursing is both an art and applied science that emphasizes the components of caring, communication, competence and clinical decision making. These components are the foundation in the philosophy used by the Department of Nurse Education and embedded throughout the curriculum. Nursing education respects the uniqueness of all members of the global community and accessibility for individuals of the diverse population of our service area. The Department of Nurse Education prepares graduates to collaborate with the patient to promote, attain, and/or maintain an optimal level of health or to die with dignity.

Student Nurse Association Image

The Student Nurse Association (SNA) is proud of participating in the 4th Annual New Student Boot Camp.  The SNA officers take the lead in providing the new students with a luncheon and program advice from the students’ perspective. What a great way of making a student connection!!

From left to right the officers are Rodney Duve, Roger Santoya, Manuel Alvarez, Amanda Jaimes, Cynthia Gonzalez and Jackie Escobar.

The SNA faculty sponsor Linda Earwood is instrumental as a mentor in the professional development of our future registered nurses. Linda Earwood facilitates community service and leadership opportunities such as the 4th Annual Ronald McDonald Meal, Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Carnival. The SNA members most recently assisted with the City-Wide Health Fair sponsored by LULAC/NAACP and Del Mar College.
