General Management

Management Development programs incorporate education and training to prepare individuals for career paths with businesses, non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and academic institutions. Prepare for a management career in human resources, operations, retail, health services, or sales. The Associate in Applied Sciences - General Management Specialization is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to enter the job market or advance in management positions.

The Certificate in Leadership Development provides targeted training for individuals desiring to strengthen their leadership skills. This program may be credited toward an Associate in Applied Science degree with specialization in either General Management, Marketing, or Production and Logistics Management.

The Certificate in Small Business Management focuses on preparing the marketing and finance elements of a business plan.

Formal articulation and transfer agreements have been established, allowing students to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts and Sciences degree from Texas A&M University- Kingsville

Practicum

An important component of the Management Development program is an external learning experience established in collaboration with community organizations and businesses. The practicum provides general training and experiences in the workplace. As a student in the program, you will attend a weekly seminar on the Del Mar College campus and concurrently work on management development assignments at a worksite under supervision of the employer.

Marketing Specialization

The Associate in Applied Science -Marketing Specialization prepares an individual for a wide variety of positions in sales and marketing functions such as:
  • Promotion --including selling, advertising, publicity and public relations, and sales promotion
  • Distribution --in manufacturing, service, nonprofit, wholesale, or retail channels
  • Marketing Strategy --including the design and execution of strategy for clients
  • Pricing
  • Product development

The Certificate in Professional Sales provides targeted training for individuals desiring to enter a sales career or to enhance their job skills. This program may be credited toward the Associate in Applied Science - Marketing Specialization degree.

The Certificate in real estate Sales and Marketing offers college-level professional education in the field of real estate. the employment in the real estate field and satisfies the State of Texas licensing requirements. Courses also help individuals who want to know more about buying and selling homes. Real estate constitutes one of the largest investments an individual makes in today's economy.

Production and Logistics Management Specialization

The Associate of Applied Science Management Development-Production and Logistics Management Specialization is designed to provide the skills needed to enter the job market or advance in supply chain management positions. The program includes specialized courses in warehouse, distribution, business logistics, leadership, and decision making as well as general management training.

The growing demand in jobs related to transportation, product distribution, and supply chain management provides new opportunities. Courses in the Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management are designed to prepare for career enhancement or entry into warehousing, purchasing, or transportation related occupations.

Formal articulation and/or transfer agreements have been established allowing graduates with an Associate of Applied Science to continue their education in a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree at specific four-year universities, including Texas A&M University- Kingsville. Careers in quality assurance or quality control provide high paying jobs in aviation, energy, manufacturing or production related industries. Jobs may include Quality Assurance Technician, Quality Assurance Inspector or Manager of Quality Assurance in business or industry. Typical job responsibilities ensure that work orders are in compliance with contract specifications, perform audits of products prior to distribution, coordinate testing and maintain the quality assurance environment.
